Manga
Mob Psycho 100 Vol. 1
Recommended
Same person who made One Punch Man made this. You can kind of tell — deadpan faces, overpowered main character, jokes that land even when the art looks simple.
Mob (real name Shigeo) has psychic powers but he tries not to use them because he is scared of hurting people. The Telepathy Club is about to get shut down until he joins and accidentally shows off how strong he is. Also if his emotions hit 100 he goes completely nuts. That rule comes up a lot.
What I liked
- Mob is not a typical shonen hero. He wants to be normal and fit in, which is relatable even if you do not have psychic powers.
- Reigen is hilarious. He is kind of a fraud but also weirdly wise?
- The comedy still works even when the art is rough. ONE draws simple on purpose and it fits the jokes.
What I didn’t like
- Art is my lowest score here. Some panels look rushed compared to other manga I read. Dad says that is the style but I notice it.
- The psychic stuff can get loud and chaotic. Good chaos, but still chaos.
Verdict
Worth reading if you liked One Punch Man or want something funny with actual feelings underneath. Not for little kids — there is violence and it gets intense. Check with a parent if you are under 14.
