After volume 0 I needed more. Volume 1 is where the main series kicks off and it does not mess around.

Yuji Itadori is a normal high school kid who is weirdly strong and runs really fast for no reason. Then he finds a cursed object, sorcerers show up, and his whole life turns into fighting monsters. He eats Sukuna’s finger to save people — which is the most Yuji thing ever — and now the King of Curses lives in his body.

What I liked

  • Yuji actually wants to help people. He is not just trying to get stronger for no reason.
  • Sukuna is terrifying and funny at the same time. Bad combination for Yuji, good for the reader.
  • Megumi and Nobara show up and the team dynamic clicks fast.
  • Perfect scores across the board for a reason. I could not put it down.

What I didn’t like

  • Same warning as volume 0 — horror, violence, body stuff. It is a lot.
  • My brother says the average is 4.8 not 5 because nothing is perfect. He is wrong but he is older so he thinks that counts.

Verdict

Start here if you do not want the prequel first. Start with volume 0 if you want the full emotional punch. Either way, read it. Just not before bed if scares bother you.
